Music is important to us in the parish and we enjoy worshipping God through singing. St Andrew’s has a digital keyboard and a slightly rickety pipe organ. The latter is much loved but tricky to play and a bit lacking in power for some of our services. At St Peter’s we have a digital piano which is used to great effect for the range of old and new music which we use. We enjoy singing and will have a good try whether we know a particular song, or not!
We are greatly blessed in having Andy playing keyboard for us most weeks. Sandra is our violinist and her playing adds great depth to the worship. At our fortnightly evening services Louise brings her guitar and we have the opportunity to choose a hymn or song. If you are a competent pianist and would like to come and help us offer our worship to God, please contact Louise.
We have a singing group, led by Sandra, which is now growing in confidence and ability. We sing at Christmas and Easter services and as regularly as we can manage throughout the year. We don’t hold auditions and you don’t need to be able to read music to join in. Members come from both St Andrew’s and St Peter’s churches. We mostly practice at St Peter’s from 7-8pm on Thursday evenings.
For those who prefer a ‘said’ service: daily Morning Prayer and our Sunday 8am and Wednesday 10am services don’t include singing.
