My dear Friends.
After filling the waste paper bin with my vain attempts at a
letter for this magazine, I suddenly thought of those well known words from the
Bible in Ecciesiastes 3:
'For everything there is a season, and a time for every
matter under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and
a time to pluck up what is planted;'
I thought to myself that instead of the line 'A time to
keep silence, and a time to speak:' I could substitute these words 'A
time to write and a time not to write for the Church Magazine:' So
that's it. A time not to write.
Now I could have mentioned our Annual Meeting (details in the
centre of the magazine) and encouraged you all to support it by your presence
and participation.
I could have highlighted our Services of Worship during Holy
Week and Easter Day and said yet again how important it is to go with Jesus
through the sad and bad events of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, so that we
more deeply appreciate the glorious news of Easter Day.
I could have done a follow-up to last months's letter about
our 'Parish Vision' and given some ideas that could help make those fine words
a growing reality.
I could have written about the Clergy Study Day I attended
recently on the subject of Worship.
I could have but try as I may nothing came to mind so that's
it. A time not to write my letter in Parish Magazine. That in itself is quite
something, the Rector with nothing to say!
But don't rejoice too much. I'll be back!
God bless you all.
