The WCP was formed in 1996 from a nucleus of Shoebury community organisations,Shoebury businesses, Borough and County representatives, initially to attempt to gain badly needed funds and support from a Government Single Regeneration Bid. The result of the surveys, opinion gatherings and plans that went into that bid resulted in a grant from Central Government of £800,000 with an expectation of a total spend, including matched funding, over seven years of £4,000,000. This initiative brought together groups of people who carry on with a corporate effort to improve and rebuild the Shoebury community, its businesses, its educational and living standards, and its future prospects into the 21st century. |

Shoebury has a Borough Youth Service Officer and several Borough workers and volunteers who's main aim is to create a safe and fulfilling environment in Shoebury for children from 8 to 18 years of age. The churches all contribute to this initiative. |
